Storybook Mural, for the Rheumatology Clinic

Cincinnati Children's Hospital

This mural follows Mother Goose, appearing in costumes reflective of her environment, as she fly's through the scenes led by a pathway. First is the library, where children are gathered to hear a story. We follow the pathway from a pile of books, into an African folktale, Why Mosquitoes Buzz in People's Ears by Verna Aardema . Around the corner follows the fairytale classics, such as Rumplestiltskin and Rapunzel. From here we come to a mix of Asian myths, and pass through a three-dimensional tree that sits atop a bookshelf, holding the tales illustrated in the mural. This takes us to a candy village where we see Hansel and Gretel, following the pathway that has now turned to chocolate bars. Continuing on we cross a bridge in a forest, to end with the old Russian folktale of Babushka.
