Murals for The Children's Hospital of Cincinnati

New Patient Care Wing

This commission was to promote reading in a way that would appeal to young children. Each mural was placed in an exam room at the children's Hospital as a reading corner, and is designed in the shape of a tree.

Detail of the pirate ship

This piece is about pirates and adventures at sea. Each book in this mural has the title of a classic pirate novel, such as Treasure Island.

Detail of the Colorado Potato Beetle

This mural was quite fun to paint, as I enjoyed studying the unique details to each insect. The creatures have their names listed beside them. I was told this piece was a favorite among the boys, as they took pleasure in these creepy-crawlies.

Detail of the Pufferfish. Puffed.

This mural relates to marine life, inspired from our new local aquarium exhibit. Once again the names are listed beside each creature to allow the kids to remember their favorites and perhaps do some future reading on them.
